    Stainless Steel Wires Duplex F44/F51/F53/F55 in Spool Coil


    Duplex stainless steels are a family of grades that contain a mix of austenite and ferrite in their microstructure, hence the name "duplex". This combination offers a higher strength and excellent resistance to corrosion compared to standard austenitic and ferritic grades. The designations F44, F51, F53, and F55 refer to specific grades of duplex (and super duplex) stainless steels.


    F44

    • Grade: Also known as 254 SMO, with a UNS designation S31254.
    • Composition: This super austenitic stainless steel has high molybdenum content, making it highly resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion. It typically contains about 20% chromium, 18% nickel, and 6% molybdenum.
    • Applications: Due to its resistance to halide-containing environments, it's often used in seawater handling systems, pulp mill bleach systems, and other severe environments.

    F51

    • Grade: This refers to duplex stainless steel 2205, with a UNS designation S31803 or S32205.
    • Composition: Around 22% chromium, 5% nickel, and 3% molybdenum. The precise composition depends on the specific standard or specification.
    • Applications: Its balanced composition provides good resistance to local and uniform corrosion. It's widely used in chemical processing, oil & gas industry, and in marine environments.

    F53

    • Grade: Known as super duplex stainless steel, it’s often referred to by its UNS designation S32750.
    • Composition: Contains higher levels of chromium, around 25%, 7% nickel, and 4% molybdenum, along with other elements like nitrogen.
    • Applications: Its enhanced pitting and crevice corrosion resistance make it ideal for use in highly corrosive environments such as offshore and subsea applications, desalination plants, and chemical plants.

    F55

    • Grade: Recognized as the super duplex Zeron 100 or UNS S32760.
    • Composition: Similar to F53 but with slightly higher nickel content and additions of tungsten and copper for improved corrosion resistance.
    • Applications: Its supreme strength and corrosion resistance are suited for harsh environments like those found in the chemical and petrochemical industries, as well as in oil and gas exploration and processing.

    Stainless Steel Wires of These Grades

    • Features: Duplex and super duplex stainless steel wires possess excellent mechanical properties and resistance to stress corrosion cracking and corrosion fatigue, enhanced by their unique microstructures.
    • Usage: These wires find applications in welding, for manufacturing mesh or filters, in spring applications, and in various forms of high-strength cabling where their corrosion resistance is a significant advantage.
